To everyone involved with this copious site, I have to applaud you. It is rare that I visit a Web Site and feel it a moral imperative to express gratitude for what I've found there. I appreciate, first of all, the vast amount of information, both occult (and I use the pure meaning of the word here)and otherwise. I am also relieved by the objectivity with which you present each topic. Your site is well-balanced, responsible, helpful, and important. Thanks.

I would just like to thank you so much for adding The Urantia Book to your list of spiritual books. This being the 5th revelation to our planet, it is so important to find new unintrusive ways to share this with all of mankind. You have allowed yet another avenue to be created for those people who are searching for a higher truth to be able to discover The Urantia Book.
God bless you and peace be with you :))

I'm nearly in tears from reading some of the quotes on your site. What a joyous reminder to my conscious that I need to return to my Goddom. I have taken long journeys of the soul in order to attain non-linear enlightenment. My task at hand is an obstacle in the pathways of my soul. However, slowly I learn and stronger I yearn to return to the realms of blissful awareness. Your site has reminded me of that.

I am an anthropological student in Greensboro NC and found your site througha search on shamanism for my end of course paper and personal enjoyment. I began exploring and found myself an hour or two later still enveloped by your page! The Burning Man pictures and other photos posted are amazing what sort of event was that?! Every one seems so happy and at peace, all expression seems acceptable, I am a nudist myself hampered heavily by the civilian laws, as well as a nature lover and avid artist. I am very interested in exactly what you guys do, are you just a group of friend or is this an established org?

Hola amigos! As a young mexican, I am really impressed about the quality of your information and point of view about psylocibe and all other drugs. This is a great opportunity to know about mind-opening drugs. I am just beginning to flow in this web-site and quickly it has becomed one of my favorite. It would be fine to consider the creation of an erowid web center in Spanish language. We have a lot to know from our own Native traditional healing and costumes involving mushrooms and other drugs. Thank you very much y saludos a todos los carnales.

Superb site. I cannot believe there is a site with such a level of science concerning the humble magick mushroom. I am a Chemist myself and found all the information on dosage etc very interesting. Its a pity I didn't have this available to me 20 years ago when I was into mushies. Now of course I am a family man who has lost contact with mushrooms, but I do not blame anyone for using them.

Here is a correction announcement from Mushroom John of Seattle. In a previous note to you, I accidently listed the wrong publisher for the forthcoming article titled: "A Worldwide Geographical Distribution of the Neurotropic Fungi, Analysis and Discussion." This 160 page paper listing 214 entheogenci mushroom species of which 170 contain the alkaloid psilocin and psilocybin, will not be published in the Italian journ Eleusis. Instead it will appear in another English Language Italian Journal called Annali dei Musei Civici-Rovereto. This article also provides a country-country listing of every known species and a reference to back up the pertinent information. It also covers a state by state listing of the USA. Be sure to check it out.
I have read the FAQ page and it needs much revision to bring excellence to its needs. I have undertaken this task so that no misinformation will come from this site. In symbiosis, a friend of the shrooms.
Be sure and watch for the next issue of Eleusis (an Italian Journal). Read "A Worldwide Distribution of the Neurotropic Fungi" by Gastón Guzmán, John W. Allen and Jochen Gartz. We list 214 species of neurotropic fungi of which 173 species contain psilocybin. We also provide a complete list of country by country and in the US, a state by state list of species for all of the world.
I find your web site fascinating and I must commend you on your work. However, in you section on various species you list many synonyms and some non-existing species. If I had a mailing address IU would love to send you a long list with corrections for you to use to improve your information. By the way, thank you for listing my two books by Wasson and Maria Sabina. I imagine that you might have purchased them at the Amsterdam psychoactivity conference.

An excellent, informative and INTELLIGENT site - kewl! And the comments help illustrate what a fucked up world we live in. Had a weekend floating around on various illegal subtances (mainly E & K) and felt fine yesterday. As you do. Had some legal alcohol last night and today my body is yelling "toxic substance" at me and I feel completely shite... the moral is there.

I would like to obtain knowledge as to whether GHB can be found in a common blood test like the ones given by law enforcement agencies for suspision of DUI. Lsd is Schedule 1, and illegal to posess and the penaties are way to extreme. I have done LSD and it is not very dangerous in my opinion and its effects are vry valuable. It could have medical use in solving problems like Sex Offenders.. I believe the courts should require sex offenders to take a LSD session as treatment. This can assure the court that the sex offender does not rape again....Yes, LSD can cure sexual perversion by changing the viewpoint of the user. There are good chances that rapiest can transcend beyond the need to rape victims, by gaining spirituality, rather than spending time in our already crowded prisons and taking up taxpayers money...LSD is not a completely useless and "dangerous" substance, as the government claims...Black Market LSD is the only risk to society, because you never know what you are getting. All the propoganda is pure crap. LSD should be legal to pocess is the same sense as alcohol or nicotine.. Alcohol and Nicotine is not illegal, yet it kills way many more than LSD ever has.

Hi, great site, I'm into all the things you are. I am a grassroots, civil disobedience, in your face, type of activist, having worked in a consistent and intense manner with San Francisco Food Not Bombs. Now, I am working hard in the above mentioned project. I have been years living the life of an urban bodhisattva, helping others everyday, as a life-style, along with non-violence, vegetarianism, and all that good kind of stuff. Early on LSD opened my eyes to the deeper, underlying, truths like interconnectedness with the Universe and One family (humans, of course). I hope you can see the beauty of this project, how it conforms to everything you stand for, the need for compassion to come forth now in the form of collaboration. Kind Regards, Tom O (bagelhole1)
I would like to share some ideas with you. If you agree with them perhaps you will feel motivated to collaborate by posting the relevant info in the appropriate places. These times are indeed tenuous, no one now, would deny. There's a shaky quality to the very foundation of society, to the very ground and below. With y2k, the possibility of the breakdown of everything has a palpable quality not unlike the feeling one might have upon the sighting of a train coming towards you from far down the tracks, to which you find, yourself, unaccountably, chained. With y2k, we have the unprecedented opportunity to intelligently prepare for the worst-case scenerio. But what is the most intelligent response? The most creative, bold, highest reaching response? So far we have seen alot of scrambling, talking, slowly organizing, locating websites to report and co-ordinate the activities of each community. Now, indeed, each community needs to form a committee of individuals to study and cull most of these sites to help find the best responses: the mapping of neighborhood skills, tools, resources, vulnerable populations, stockpiling, etc. But I'm getting off the present focus. It just so happens that the best possible contingency, imho, for y2k or any future disaster, community resiliency thru self-sustainable methods and practices, is the same action required for laying the groundwork for mutually co-operative, self-sustainable, non-sovereign but fluid, osmotic, inclusive, communities to live in a non-waste, 180 degrees opposite of what we have, type of world. Where the leaders are our hearts combined with the wisdom of the Universe But, at first thought, the possibility of this seems dubious. But, there may be a way. . .as prosaic as it may be,if an ever-improving list of low-tech, homemade style ideas for sustainability were developed and made easily accessible, globally, thru the internet. It could serve those for whom knowledge of the inherent disaster possibilities, y2k portends, creates anxiety, by giving them a way, or means to adaquately deal with the problem by simply organizing to implement these ideas as efficaciously, as expeditiously, as efficiently (he says, roundly risking, ridiculopsolipsiosis, /a rare condition; of a tendency to contradict whatever you are advocating by the method or manner of advocating\ as in this case of advocating efficiency in a redundant manner) as is humanly possible. This safety net would be the groundwork, the seed, model, template for the rising of one human family, co-operating once again, as we had for millenia before the practice of taking ownership of that which belongs to everyone, the earth, which has had the effect of dividing humanity and degrading every aspect of existence, essentially. The point being, that this is an extremely rare moment in our history, and one must see clearly enough to respond in the most appropriate way. If you are an organization or institution you need to be flexible, alive, and responsive as a zen master, if you wish to miss the metaphorical icebergs/mines that really are a part of the landscape. And so by presenting this idea with the hope that you will collaborate, want to collaborate, get others to collaborate to help track down these ideas to make this a reality. It takes collaboration to make this work. The internet, ironically, is the greatest collaborative tool imaginable. The ingenuity of our world combined with the knowledge of indigenous people, could help this list evolve, to make self-sustainable neighborhoods globally, by 2000 possible. This, I believe, is the "poetic", beautiful, and best way for humanity to respond to the global dilemma. Hope to hear your response soon.

Serious props to the creators, maintainers, and authors represented on this site and its links. It's people like you that take America closer to what it's supposed to be and the World Community to where it needs to be...open, honest, non-judgemental except in the face of ignorance, and actively seeking the spread of enlightenment! Thanks from the heart!
Although vaporization is often cited in cannabis and tobacco literature as a preferred method of delivery for numerous reasons there is little information as to distinctions between vaporization techniques. I submit that typical vapor trays/bubble/pump mechanisms are inferior to the SUPERIOR VAPORIZATION TECHNIQUE TM. that I have developed and documented in laymen instructional terms for numerous reasons including the SVT enables vapor that tastes more as your smoke material of choice does when broken apart rather than the "burnt popcorn" taste generally associated with conventional vaporizing apparatuses, in fact, produces a taste considerably better than the smoke, the SVT enables vaporization in the bowl on a pipe (preferrably a glass waterpipe) that you probably already have access to which means some semblance to the ritual is preserved unlike conventional vaporizing apparatuses, and the SVT is a more economical means by which to enjoy your smoke material of choice. Titled as a "Healthier Way to Smoke Marijuana and Tobacco" on e-bay currently with a dedicated site under construction. I'm seeking interested individuals who have the capability to put my postulates to test...contact me through e-bay please-"the real real mccoy"

The Origin of Writing: a post-structural analysis of writing's origin as material production in a visual context. Images of Aboriginal North America, ~12,000-40,000 (?) years ago. Short faced bear, saber-toothed cats, mammoth, mastadon, North American lions and horses, and some residual species of dinosaur (pterosaur, T. Rex)... along with a few other surprises!

i would like to know where "ward dean, M.D." retrieved his information about GHB. I would be very interested to see some documentation of his extensive investigation, as my experience with people taking GHB is that it does indeed have 100% abuse potential. If i am wrong i would like to know, however the lack of references concern me that this article is merely an attempt to ecourage recreational drug use. Please tell me why Dr. Dean finds that the FDA would refer to GHB as illegal and having abuse potential if it wasnt true. It is my understanding that it manufacture and distribution is illegal. Can you prove to me otherwise? yours truly, Elizabeth

Thank you for your info on the effects/images of ketamine. On a recent "trip" to Florida after two rolls, champagne, various other party favors I was introduced to K and experienced many of the things you touched on (NDE) I experienced some of the most vivid images ever imagined-such as hebrew scrolling across my hand in indian ink almost as though my hand were a cloud unattached to my body and other undesribable visions, feelings, and emotions. I thought I was temporarily insane until I read your article. Thank you!

I wanted you to know that I appreciate the Erowid pages. I am especially interested in those giving information about Heroin. I am a relocated junkie - Caliofornia to Iowa! I do not think that Heroin is even spoken here. I used for many years and resent the directive given to me about being Heroin free. I strongly believe that there can be a productive user if we did not have to slither around getting money and the drug. Yes, and all the trials that go along with that! I have explored some alternatives in obtaining stuff with no dealer. Your information on the poppy is extrememly eye-opening! Thanks again for the site, it is great!

I love this site! I've gained so much knowledge from here it's unreal. It's good to know I'm not the only one that sees something in this. Most of the people I trip with, only do it for kicks. When I tell them the insights I have, they act like it's time to cut me off. One of my favorite authors, JOEL GOLDSMITH, said true Spirituality must be keep secret and sacred except to those who are willing and ready. When one's ready, it's because Spirituality is sprouting him/her, not the other way around! GOD BLESS for such a site!!!

Thank God there are people out there that care enough to do something like this, I have only discovered the psychedelics in the last year and a half or so but since then have made up for lost time, and have recently started a dissertation on the political expediency of the war against drugs, this site will hep me immeasurably. I have also recently founded a political party which will be officially launched this summer at a free party in Southampton (Look out if you're in the area) The party is called the Liberal Social Democrats, or LSD and will be looking to stand at the next general election in Britain, I know we haven't got a fucking hope but we just want to make as much mischeif as possible and give those who have been marginalised by the present system a chance to get involved and hopefully raise a few important question by generally making as much mischeif as possible. If anyone hears anything more about this after the official launch please get in touch when we are a bit better organised. Keep up the good work. Cheers

Great site. I take alot of drugs both OTC and Rx and I thought maybe you should include some of the ones the doctors give me to help me 'get thru the day' if you know what I mean because some of them are just as strong as ketamine or DMT, smile. Like olanzipine which has helped me get rid of that whole agranulcytosis thing and doesn't give me the extrapyramidal symptoms I was getting from haldol and thorazine. You see modern chemistry! Sure some of those primitive jungle plants can get you off, but who wants to deal with the barfing. Ha ha. For a while I was worried about thought montioring and even outright theft of my thoughts by outside forces who shall remain nameless, for now, but since I found your excellent site I see there are lots of other folks just like me who are actually heading in the other direction and indulging in the very human need to believe in the imaginary voices created by brain chemistry, you know. That's not a soul, it's just a bunch of neurotransmitters having a party. So I try to strike a kind of balance and when I get a dose of risperidone or clozapine, I just take half or trade it for some methadone or whatnot outside the clinic because then I can go out and buy other drugs from other people who aren't doctors and this really confuses the operators monitoring me and sometimes I can hear the equipment clicking because I have crossed their signals by half encouraging and half squelching the outside forces. So the information I would like to include is that those things you're talking about are not elves definitely not because I have been there too and I can personally testify that they can be stopped by a strong enough hit of droperidol, which Mr. Janssen gave the world. Do not be afraid. I repeat. You don't have to be afraid. The elves are mean little guys but they can be killed. I have seen it done (not by me personally) ;-) but it can be done!! One doctor who shall remain nameless showed me how. So don't give up. If you take some potentiated vine juice (you know what I mean) and the elves come for you, run don't walk for the nearest ER and demand a "chemical straitjacket" that's what they call it. It kills elves dead. I'm listening to Elvis Costello, and I think he knows because he's singing The Bugs are Taking Over. So what I'm really trying to say is Moderation is The Key. Every wise man from Buddha to Laotze and everyone in between said exactly the same thing. Except Jesus. He just lied through his teeth and when he died took over from his dad as king of hell, no offense to you christians because a lot of you are very nice people and I don't want you to get upset but I have been there, using drugs, and the other gods don't like Jesus Christ or the holy ghost because they don't tell the whole story to mankind, and there are deceptions going on all the time if you could just use some powerful entheogens to see the truth you'd see it too because en-theo-gen is a word that means integenerating godliness in Greek so try some for yourself but pot and cocaine are definitely not entheogens - you have to get much much stronger drugs to really make sure you get a good believable experience and see for yourself. I've got to go so please write me back. Thanks.

Hello there
Great site - really informative. The reason I checked it out is - I'm a TV Researcher working on an idea for UK TV - its about older people (ie over the age of fifty) who still enjoy (or have recently taken up) activities usually associated with younger people. This might include smoking cannabis, or taking other recreational drugs. Other areas I have looked into so far include surfing, backpacking, direct action campaigning etc.
At this stage, I'm just collating possible contributors and stories - it may be a while before any funding is available. However, I'd appreciate it if anyone wants to get in touch and discuss things further. The idea would be ultimately, for the person concerned to be interviewed about their beliefs, and to be filmed doing things which may illustrate some of the things they were talking about (not necessarily just taking drugs!)
Please get in touch if you can help, or would like to talk things over. Thanks!
Cheerio for now!

For a newbie like me, this site has so many answers, and raises so many more questions! And despite how I feel about freedom of speech, I still sit here shaking in my shoes as I write this! Keep strong!
Reading some of the submissions of other "newbies" seem to be asking questions, and for them I would like to add this motherly bit of advice (sorry!)
For those who are reading this who are looking to experiment,I am no guru! But as a recreational user of cannabis, X, acid, and shrooms, I can honestly say that no trip is ever the same, so there is really no point in telling you what each of my trips is like(after the hours of sharing, yours could still, and problably will, be completely different from mine). However, for first times, to ensure a good trip make sure of a few things!FIRST TIMERS!NUMBER ONE RULE! If you trip with other people, make sure you are with people you love/trust! and Make sure you are in a place where you feel comfortable and are somewhat sure of the surroundings (nothing sucks more than being lost your first time on anything and not being completly clear headed!) . Remember, you have plenty of time to try new experiences in new places, and meet new people. However, until you experience a substance, you have no idea how your body/mind will react to it. Bless! meg

Thank you for your research and information.
Why is there such a stronger focus on Morning Glory Seeds than the rest of the plant? Are the same pyschoative elements present in the rest of the vine, ie the sap? I have noticed mild effects by tasting the white sap and chewing the flower. How can the rest of the plant be processed other than morning glory wine? How can the seeds be taken directly from the plant? Thank you for response,

I've noticed in your listing of lab test results on XTC that you only went back about 4 or 5 years ago up to the present. I've been doing X for roughly ELEVEN (11) years and the pills over the last 8 or 9 years don't even come close to those between '87 and the early part of '90. After about march of 1990, the potency and euphoric affets were pretty much cut in half. Anyone living between Texas and Florida between '87 and '90 (who was doing E) can vouch for what I'm saying. I often hear people (usually younger than myself, 30) say what a good pill they ate the other night, and having done the same one they are speaking of, I think to myself "man, I wish I had a Mike Tyson, White Double Dome, or Green Monster from '88 to give this guy- he would lose his shit!!" Anyway, Erowid, can you relate to what I'm saying about the true "old school" pills? Also try to dig up some test results on pills from the late eighties and see what they contained. Whatever it was, it was WAAAYYY better than pills of today.
