Described variously as a pulling or pushing of the body in a particular direction, some people find themselves pinned to the floor for the duration of their experience. One user described it as "Salvia gravity".

Some people report that they are unable to achieve any significant effects with Salvia divinorum (even 10x extract) unless they use it on top of a solid base of smoked Cannabis.

In 2008, a story about a young woman who smoked Salvia divinorum and was treated for psychotic symptoms. See http://www.sfgate.com/opinion/article/A-Salvia-divinorum-horror-story-3186276.php. A couple of medical professionals have contacted Erowid in the years following pointing out that the lasting problems could have been a result of neuroleptic malignant syndrome caused by the treatment of the woman with antipsychotic medications rather than caused by the initial smoking of salvia divinorum.

  • Air Roots
In high humidity, Salvia divinorum plants can put out air roots (roots growing above the surface of the soil).
