Abstract
Epinephrine, norepinephrine, mescaline, LSD, serotonin, bufotenine, and adrenochrome produced cerebral synaptic inhibition in the cat, but varied in degree of effectiveness. . The effect of iproniazid resembled that of serotonin, as if the serotonin at the synapse had been preserved by the iproniazid-induced inhibition of monoamine oxidase. . Chlorpromazine, reserpine and azacyclonol, in doses which did not inhibit cerebral synaptic transmission, prevented the mescaline-induced inhibition of cerebral synapses.
