Abstract
In studies on 269 cats LSD proved more effective than picrotoxin, metrazol and BOL 148 (in that order) in preventing death from subsequent lethal doses of pentobarbital. . LSD was more effective than picrotoxin in reversing cortical suppression and cessation or respiration induced by previous administration of pentobarbital. BOL 148 had no such effects. . The doses of LSD necessary to prevent or reverse the effects of pentobarbital were harmless in both non- anesthetized and anesthetized cats. The doses of picrotoxin necessary were convulsive or sub-convulsive even in anesthetized cats.
