Abstract
The effects of chronic administration of LSD on the EEG and cerebral metabolism in rabbits have been previously reported (Cf. Cahn et al., Compt. rend. Soc. biol. Paris 151: 1820, 1957). . ATP, given simultaneously with LSD, increased glucose consumption to above normal values. It did not modify the effects of LSD on cerebral potassium and glutathion metabolism. The EEG was normalized in 500f animals. . Ascorbic acid, given simultaneously with LSD, increased glucose consumption to above normal values. It did not modify the effects of LSD on cerebral potassium and glutathion metabolism. The EEG was normalized in 500f animals. . Ascorbic acid, given simultaneously with LSD, enhanced the LSD-induced inhibition of glucose consumption. It normalized potassium loss and glutathion metabolism. The EEG was normalized in all animals. . ATP + ascorbic acid inhibited almost all the effects of LSD on cerebral metabolism and the EEG.
