Abstract
Rats were given i.p. injections of LSD labeled with 14c and sacrificed 15 minutes later. 2/5 of the radio- activity was detected in liver cell protein. 2/3 of the radio-activity was detected in cerebral cortex cell protein. The nature of the protein binding is unknown. LSD was evenly distributed over the cell fractions of the cerebral cortex and liver except in adult rats where there were higher values for liver microsomes. . Radio-activity was greatest in the cerebral cortex of 14 day old rats, i.e. when the cortex was biochemically mature. By contract, in the 7 day old rats, when the cortex was immature, radio-activity was greater in the liver than in the cerebral cortex.
