Abstract
LSD-25, tryptamine, bufotenin and dimethyltryptamine depressed lateral geniculate transmission in the cat. 5-hydroxytryptamine, four other indole derivatives, gramine and 3 LSD derivatives (BOL-148, 2-oxy-LSD and 2.2'-bis-LSD disulfide) had no such effect. . Asphyxia transiently reversed the effects of LSD, bufotenin, tryptamine and dimethyltryptamine. . The effects of LSD on geniculate transmission were significantly blocked but not reversed by gramine. 5- HT did not consistently block the effects of LSD.
