Abstract
In right-handed normal subjects the galvanic skin reflex exhibits a greater reactivity on the left side of the body than on the right side. This "left reactivity pattern" was thought to be a mature one and it was postulated that under "disorganizing conditions" (e.g. schizophrenia or under the influence of LSD) right reactivity patterns would be more frequent. . In 41 schizophrenics there was less reactivity on the left side and more reactivity on the right side as compared with normal subjects. In 10 normal subjects given LSD (20-100 mcg. [orally ?] there was a significant decrease in reactivity on the left side and a significant increase in reactivity on the right side as compared with control studies in the same subjects. These data therefore supported the hypothesis.
