Abstract
The effects of LSD and related compounds taken orally were studied in five non-psychotic subjects. A quantitative comparison was made by determining the response index (ratio of number of responses to a questionnaire to the dose in mcg.). The questions in the questionnaire were so constructed that a positive response, independent of the intensity of the reaction, constituted one response. The relative potency of the compounds was as follows: . - LSD (standard) = 100
- ALD-52 = 91
- OML-632 = 66
- MLD-41 = 36
- LSM-775 = 11
- DAM-57 = 11
- BOL-148 = 7
- LPD-824 = 5
- LAE-32 = 3
- UML-491 = 1
. It is thought this constitutes a reliable method of comparing the psychotomimetic effects of drugs in human beings.
