“Lysergic acid and its effects on visual discrimination in monkeys.”.
J.Nerv. ment.Dis.. 1959;129:252.
Abstract
Five rhesus monkeys were trained to discriminate between geometric objects presented in pairs tachistoscopically, i.e. in brief exposures. The i.m. administration of 2-8 mcg/kg LSD impaired their performance of tachistoscopic discrimination. After LSD their accuracy was considerably reduced as compared to control studies and their reaction time was prolonged. These effects are attributed to an action of LSD on axodendritic synapses in the central nervous system. No behavioral effects were noted.
