Abstract
The literature on the effect of psychotropic drugs on electroencephalograms (EEG) and the use of EEG studies in psychopharmacology is reviewed. The influence of lithium, mescaline and lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD-25) on human EEG, and the advantages of using the EEG to investigate effects of psychotropic drugs on central nervous system function, clinical effects of psychotropic drugs and to prevent side effects of psychotropic drugs are considered. 54 references.
