Abstract
A study of the von Braun reaction of stereoisomer of LSD (1) and related compounds is presented. The lysergic and derivatives shown below, prepared from D-lysergic acid (Sigma-Chem.) by standard methods, and agroclavine (Aldrich) were reacted with BrCN/CHCl3 according to the von Braun procedure. No reaction occurred with ( 3), ( 5) (13), (14), (17) or (18) whilst other compounds afforded the N6 6 cyano derivatives. IR. UV and MS data are cited.
