Hardison C.
“We Have a Problem: A Call for a Paradigm Shift (Part 1)”.
Drugs and Alcohol Today. 2007 Dec;7(4).
Abstract
The author describes the fundamentally unfair principle of prohibiting only some dangerous or otherwise harmful drugs but not other admittedly dangerous or otherwise harmful drugs, particularly alcohol and tobacco, and how in the case of the Misuse of Drugs Act of 1971, the drugs sought to be eradicated are drugs used, traded, and preferred by minority cultural groups for a variety of reasons including the amelioration of perceived dis-ease. Defines five distinctions and three errors of law the British Government makes in administering the Act according to this premise of selective enforcement.
