Abstract
The ever-increasing popularity of psychoactive mushrooms has created a great demand for pamphlets and books describing their identification and culture.
Unfortunately, a plethora of inaccurate and misleading guides has begun to pervade the eager market. Growing Wild Musbrooms is a prime example. The author makes
the claim that it is "a complete guide to cultivating edible and haliucinogenic mushrooms." He alleges that almost any wild mushroom can be grown by the methodology described in his book, but the only species he clearly depicts in any stage of cultivation is the
hallucinogenic Psilocybe (Stropbaia) cubensis. Harris' techniques are not novel and are well known for cubensis culture via previous booklets (Brown, R. [ed.] . Tbe Psychedelic Guide to tbe Preparation of the Eucharist - In a Few of its Many Guises. Austin, Texas:
Linga Sharira Incense Co., 1968; Enos, L. A Key to the North American Psilocybin Mushroom, Lemon Grove, California: Youniverse Productions, 1970; Oss, O.T, &
Oeric, O.N. Psilocybin: Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide. Berkeley, California' And/Or Press, 1976).
