Abstract
Ca24 entry into cells is one of the initial steps in cell death. MDMA-induced neuropathology of cultured serotonergic neurons is linked to 5-HT release and attenuated by nimodipine. Rat brain synaptosomes were used as an in vitro system to measure 45Ca24 entry. To test the possible mechanism of MDMA-induced stimulation of Ca entry and thc role of thc 5-HT system on regulating brain Ca24 channels, wc modified an in vitro microassay system for use with 96-well plates (NUNC. Denmark).
